Featured Brand of the Month: Nunn Design - Week One

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, the design team at Beadaholique has picked a brand that evokes a sense of romance and classic glamour.  The Brand of the Month for February is Nunn Design. 

Nunn Design offers a wide variety of beautiful products ranging from charms to bezel pendants to findings and more.  The style is a mix of old world meets whimsical charm.  I personally love using their pieces and think they add a polished yet ornate look to my jewelry.  If you enjoy using mixed media, collage art, or resin in your jewelry, then the components by Nunn Design are definitely for you.

As we begin exploring Nunn Design this month, we will be showcasing a different category of products each week.  This week is all about Nunn Design charms.  Whether you like your charms in antiqued silver, or bright gold plated; in a playful design or something more elegant, you can find a charm by Nunn Design that fits your taste.

Featured Project: Embellished Marigold Earrings by Julie Bean

In her Embellished Marigold earrings, Julie uses large solid brass Nunn Design Marigold Flower embellishments.  This embellishment is from Nunn Design's Elements of Inspiration collection and is a perfect accent piece that can be mixed with different finishes and styles of jewelry.

 

Featured Video:  How to Use Nunn Design Micro Screw and Nuts Set

This helpful video explains how to use Nunn Design's Micro Screw and Nut Sets to create a cold connection in jewelry making.  These easy to use components do not require a hammer and bench block like traditional rivets yet give a similar appearance.  In this video, Julie shows you how to make her lovely Embellished Marigold earrings using these screws and nuts.

One of my all time favorite Nunn Design charms has to be the highly detailed (right down to the feathers) Bird charm. Measuring 22mm, this charm is the perfect size to be worked into a bracelet, a pair of earrings, or even a mixed media collage piece. Tip: try painting the bird and then sealing it with Nunn Design Sealant, it looks really really cool!

Call me a purist, but I do love the classic shapes when it comes to charms.  One of my favorite Nunn Design charms is the classic puffed heart.  It's incredibly usable, and works into a very wide variety of designs.  I love to use basic little charms like this one to add that extra touch to a piece, giving them just a little bit of added romance.

There is something about this copper plated pewter Fleur de Lis that I am drawn to.  The Nunn Design copper elements are my favorite because the color is so perfectly brushed and weathered that looks like it came off an old iron fence.  The care and detail of their pieces makes them high quality pieces that I love to use in my designs over and over again.

I adore this Nunn Design solid brass honey bee embellishment! Julie used it for her Queen Bee ring, and I must say, it's one of my all time favorite projects on the Beadaholique site. It's so whimsical and unique and allows you to add some playfulness to your jewelry.
