SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS INNOVATIONS FOR FALL/WINTER 2013/14: ‘REFLECTIONS’

Twice a year SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS releases a new collection of colors, effects, shapes, and sizes that inspire designers throughout the world and help to influence the coming design trends. We look forward to this time of year with great anticipation and excitement. The Fall/Winter 2013/14 Innovations have just been announced and we will explore the details of the collection in 2 blog posts: this first post will detail the new colors and effects and the second will explore all the new shapes and sizes.

"This season, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS analysts have identified globalization as the key trend behind the latest cutting-edge crystal additions to the SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS range. The innovations for Fall/Winter 2013/14 are a response to an emerging counter-trend of ‘glocalization’ – the move to embrace national heritage and local traditions, inspired by Austria’s folkloric charm and picturesque scenery.” Aptly titled 'Reflections', this collection is both thought provoking and serene with its cool grey and blue tones.

Light Turquoise is the new color this season. This icy color "recalls the clear blue skies of Alpine treks, the Arctic winter, and the Caribbean summer." The color is subtly intense and would look stunning paired with neutrals such as Crystal, Greige, and Jet, as well as with more vibrant colors like Bermuda Blue, Heliotrope, and Provence Lavender. Try pairing this new color with Sterling Silver or silver-filled findings for a look that is both elegant and wearable on a daily basis. You can also pair the color with gold tones for a more formal and traditional look. However you choose to incorporate Light Turquoise into your designs, you are sure to be inspired by its eye-catching cool intensity.
The new effect this season is Crystal Blue Shade, which just happens to look beautiful when paired with the new color Light Turquoise. Crystal Blue Shade has a distinct silver undertone complimented by light blue highlights. When I first saw this beautiful new effect, I was reminded of the watery color that radiates off long icicles when they first begin to melt in the morning sun and the sparkle of blue highlights on freshly fallen snow. The quiet reflectivity of this new effect makes it one of the most versatile ones we have seen in several releases. It will compliment almost any color and metal finish, making it a new staple in our design box.

Crystal Grey Pearl is the new pearl this season. It has a cool elegance with its almost steel-like appearance. It is tough and strong yet still retains a feminine air about it. SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS crystal faux pearls are luxurious to the touch and their high quality comes through in their uniformity, shimmery coating, and substantial weight. This new pearl color would look beautiful contrasted by Jet Black accents and other darker tones. Equally, Crystal Grey Pearl would also look lovely paired with both bright silver or antique silver, crystal, white, pink, or blue accents. To me, I see this crisp new color as being the pearl equivalent of Black Diamond, it is a fantastic neutral that will look beautiful paired with just about anything.

In the coming days we will post another blog entry describing all the new and exciting SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS sizes and shapes that are parts of the Fall/Winter 2013/14 launch! Stay tuned..........
