Featured Brand of the Month: Green Girl Studios - Week One

I am very excited introduce our March brand of the month, Green Girl Studios. This brand is the epitome of whimsical elements as you can see in their mythological, nature-inspired, and fantasy based designs. Cynthia Thornton created Green Girl Studios back in 1997 with an eye focused on designing unique metal beads, clasps and pendants. This family-run business is based in Asheville, NC and each piece is made in the USA.

For this first week, I would like to highlight their beads. If you are unfamiliar with Green Girl Studios, this is the best introduction to their brand.  Their beads come in a wide variety of designs ranging from animals to robots to mermaids.

Featured Video: How to fill an Open Back Bezel with Resin

(Backside) Make a Wish Necklace
In this video, Julie shows you how to fill an open back bezel with resin and create a pendant.  This is a great video because it shows you how to create a clear flat surface on the back side of an open back pendant so that you can view an object from both sides . Once you master this technique you can use many of the Green Girl beads in open back bezels. Julie's Make a Wish Necklace uses the pewter oval fairy focal bead which features a cute fairy on one side and the word "wish" on the other side. Like the oval fairy focal bead, a number of Green Girl beads are two sided and this technique features them perfectly.

Designer Picks:

Julie

This little Bat Bead captured my heart the moment I saw him. I might be scared of bats in real life but in my jewelry making I think this particular bat is just too cute with his overlapping wings and sweet smile.

Megan

I am a huge fan of Green Girl Studios.  The whimsical style and eye-catching pieces really grab my attention.  My favorite bead that we have from this brand is the Flying Pig Focal Bead.  It's adorable, and I love the inspiration it gave me when I made the When Pigs Fly Necklace.

Kat

I think this pewter snail castle focal bead to just too fun to pass up. How often do you see something like this? Cynthia brings such a wonderful sense of fantasy to her creations. The detail is really incredible in this piece.

Karlin

How cute is this pewter hedgehog focal bead!? I love the sweet, animated face and overall cute design. The attention to detail Green Girl brings to all of their artisan-crafted pieces is quite beautiful. I look forward to including this little guy in one of my future projects.

Stay tuned throughout March for more about Green Girl Studios!
